FBI calls " eco-terrorists " top domestic threat; Inhofe licks his chops

The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee convened a hearing on

" eco-terrorism " yesterday, anxious to warn the nation of a rising danger that

has already killed ... well, nobody. Despite the unimpressive body count, a

growing number of property crimes make fringe ecological and animal-rights

groups the single greatest domestic terror threat facing the U.S., according to

the FBI's John Lewis, who testified before the committee. He acknowledged that

groups like the Earth Liberation Front and the Animal Liberation Front have not

caused bodily harm, per se, but cited " troubling signs that this is changing, "

like " violent rhetoric. " After the testimony, committee chair James Inhofe

(R-Okla.) got to the real agenda: Smearing the larger environmental movement.

" Just like al-Qaeda or any other terrorist organization, ELF and ALF cannot

accomplish their goals without money, membership, and the media, " he said

darkly, vowing to look more closely for ways that radical groups get assistance

from " mainstream activists. " That's you, folks.

I can see this leading to another bout of Mc Carthyism. Instead

of " reds under the bed " they will be looking for " veg under the bed "

It realy does smack of one of those science fiction movies where

everyone has to conform to the norm. Lets hope that if they push it

far enough, it will lead to a backlash

McCarthy's Red List is alive and well and has been dusted off and is now

having more names added to it. Earth First!, Women in Black, Vets Against

the War are all being added to the old Red List that also had the KKK, Aryan

Brotherhood, Black Panthers, etc. on it.

If you've ever signed your name to get something on a ballot that Big

Brother doesn't like, you'd been researched. If you've ever sent a nasty

letter to your congress-boob, you've been researched.

Not a conspiracy theory, simply a fact. The ex was a DEA section head and

Special Forces with the highest clearance. The higher ups informed him that

he was making bad choices in his friends. They had my name from when I was

5 (step-dad's step-father was a registered Communist). Plus, a lot of us

got on the wrong side of Hearst. And then there was Alcatraz. They had

them all. About the only thing they didn't have was the right color of my

eyes (they change, but they've never been blue! <g>).
