Guest guest
Hi everyone, I just yesterday started a vegan wiki at http://www.wikiveg.org. As you can see not much at all is there yet, but I have big hopes for it. I'd like to see it eventually become a really great all-around vegan and animal activist resource, though what exactly it becomes will be largely up to the contributors. So there's no content yet, but I wanted to get the word out a little now in case there is anyone who would be interested in working on it, either casually or seriously. Also, if you have a vegan/animal/eco group or zine or anything that could use a place for free basic hosting of a website, you are more than welcome to use this site. Just go ahead and navigate to www.wikiveg.org/Your_group_here and create the page. Images can be uploaded via the link of the left hand side, though keep it reasonable. If you are worried that people will mess up your official homepage, let me know and I can make the page your access only. If you're not familiar with wikis, wikis are basically websites where anyone, or almost anyone, can edit any page and create new ones. It's hugely efficient for lots of things, because new information can be posted and wrong info corrected very quickly, since there are tons of people to do it, rather than a small number of webmasters. There is always a risk of that freedom being abused, but usually this isn't as big a problem as it seems. Wikipedia is of course the classic example of a wiki that works (or that doesn't work depending on who you ask If you want to get a better sense of the project, see the " What Wikiveg is " page. (http://www.wikiveg.org/What_Wikiveg_is). And since it's a wiki, if you have any ideas for what this project could be, go ahead and add them to that page! Thanks Zach
