Guest guest
I am a member of several yarn groups as well as this group which is animal care oriented. How interesting that so many knitters/crocheters...anyone with yarn, often have kitties. Yes, doggies and bunnies too! The comments and pictures are great to see. I find it to be a really wonderful revelation. [i do understand those who are not cat oriented. There are phobias and allergy problems and some just don't wish to have animals.] We had one kitty with declawing...and have always felt sad/mad that we did this. The two we have now are not declawed and are very good about not using their claws on " no-no places " and do not get involved in my yarn. [They have a scratcher thing of corrugated paper, with [organic!] catnip scattered on it.] It is my feeling that our CREATURE FRIENDS are more important than our personal creature comforts. Guest guest
None of my cats have ever been declawed. However, the two remaining ones get their nails trimmed, hopefully once a month! Charlie has to be wrapped up like a tamale in a towel and forced to cooperate (I never get close to the pink part), but Patches will sit there and offer hers up to be done. She just loves her manicure! Since I have a 16 month old granddaughter, it's for her safety that they get their nails trimmed. Plus, they tend to actually rip the nail off by snagging it if I don't trim them. And, I have to say, my 16 y.o. son had 9 stitches in his face several years ago from a frightened cat trying to hang on to him. And I still don't believe in declawing when there are so many other alternatives available. _____ On Behalf Of BARBARA KIPPER Saturday, August 04, 2007 8:08 PM Cats, animals in the home I am a member of several yarn groups as well as this group which is animal care oriented.
