Oatmeal Whole Wheat Apple Pie

Note: Organic ingredients are recommended...

INGREDIENTS/PIE CRUST (WHOLE WHEAT)

1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

1 cup self rising flour

1/2 cup oatmeal; grind

1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

1 cup cold spring water

1 teaspoon vinegar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 brown egg (room temp.) + 1 tablespoon water (brush pie before baking)

METHODS:

In a bowl add the water, vinegar and the olive oil.

Add 1/2 teaspoon salt and the flour (1/2 cup at a time).

Work the mixture well as much as it needs to become tight.

If it requires more water and flour add in order for the dough

to become as thick as it needs.

Cover the dough with plastic wrap and leave it for half an hour

before it is used.

Roll out with rolling pin.

Makes upper curst strips and bottom crust.

APPLE FILLING:

6 medium apples; thin slices

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon nutmeg

2 tablespoon lemon juice

2 tablespoon pure maple syrup or pure honey

1 tablespoon whole wheat flour

Pour thin slices apples on a flat pan, add cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice,

Maple syrup and whole wheat flour, mix well.

Then fill bottom crust on baking pan, slightly brush with oil

add apples mixture cover with the rest of the crust strips.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 40-50 minutes.
