Try these for brussels sprouts:

1) SPICY

Cut off the base of brussels sprouts and cut a deep " x " in the top to cook

faster.

Toss sprouts into vegetable steamer in BOILING water, and steam 6-12 minute

to desired consistency. Crunchy is great, as sprouts continue to soften from

heat after removed from pot.

Toss sprouts in 1/2 part toasted sesame seed oil

1/2 part extra virgin olive oil.

Season w/red pepper flakes, black pepper, crushed sea salt and fresh lemon

juice.

Even better--- toss w/hot sesame chili oil.

Best served with green tea soba noodles

Also, great w/ regular soba noodles.

or rice cooked in mushroom broth

2) MEDITERRANEAN

Prepare brussel sprouts as above. Chop off stem/base, and cut deep " x " in top.

Steam in salted water, using a vegetable steamer.

Toss w/sundried tomatoes soaked in extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, pepper

and lemon.

Best served w/ artichoke or leek arborio rice.

2a) Baked MEDITERRANEAN

Repeat all of steps from Mediterranean.

Roll sprouts in Panko, Italian bread crumbs or crumbs mixed w/1/2tsp German

mustard & lemon juice. You can also stuff crumbs into " x " marks. It's lovely.

Place on broiler pan and broil for 2 minutes.

Serve with lemon wedges as side dish.

3) MELLOW

Prepare sprouts as above. Chop off base, and cut a deep " x " into top to speed

cooking.

Steam in vegetable steamer for 6-12 minutes.

Toss with unsalted butter, crushed chunky kosher salt.

[for fun...1/2 tsp toasted sesame oil for each 6 sprouts]

Serve with lemon slices and salt.

Best served alone.

All seasonings work great on grilled brussel sprouts.

Grilled asparagus is fantastic.

I recommend toasted sesame oil, red pepper, hot chili oil and lemons on these

vegetables.

Also, high quality soba noodles. The " green tea cha " from Japan is astounding.

It could change your life. It's lighter than wheat " pastas " , and blends

brilliantly with dark green vegetables like kale, bok choi, spinach, beets, etc.

I've heard that grilled brussel sprouts are really good, haven't tried

it, but grilled asparagus is great...so along the same lines I guess!
