There are several vegetarian " Chicken " like seaonings available on the

market.

The two that I like. With any of these dry mixes, mix 1 Tbsp with 1 c. of

water to make a " chicken " broth.

One is McKay's Chicken style seasoning. Here are a couple of sources for

it, but there are many places on the internet to buy it.

http://tinyurl.com/3bkgqu You can also pick it up at any

www.adventistbookcenter.com that is near you. They have store worldwide

that you can find if you click on store locator. There is a wonderful

health food store in each of them. They carry many meat substitutes by

Worthington, Vibrant Life, Cedar Lake and Loma Linda. They have TVP and

lots more. They don't list the food items on their website, but if you go

to one you'll be pleasantly surprised at all that is available. They will

also tell you over the phone what they carry and will ship it to you.

The other one is Bill's Best Seasoning. www.billbest.net It also has

the vegetarian " beef " style seasoning like McKays does.

www.adventistbookcenter.com also carries this as well as lots of places on

the internet.

Here are two " chicken " seasoning recipes that you can make yourself to use

in recipes. They are quite good.

" Chicken Seasoning "

1 1/3 c. Nutrititional Yeast Flakes

3 T. Onion Powder

2 1/2 t. Garlic Powder

2 1/2 t. Salt

2 T. Parsley

1/2 t. Celery Salt

2 T. Italian Seasoning

1 t. Tumeric

Mix together and store in a ziplock bag for use in recipes that call for

Chicken Seasoning. It is good in Soups, breading meal and for use in making

Scrambled Egg Tofu. To make a broth mix 1 T. with 1 c. of water.

Chicken Style Seasoning

1 1/2c nutritional yeast

2 1/2 tsp sweet pepper flakes

3 tsp onion powder

2 1/2 tsp salt

2 1/2 tsp rubbed sage

2 1/2 tsp celery seed

2 1/2 tsp garlic

2 1/2 tsp thyme, ground

1 1/4 tsp marjoram

1 1/4 tsp tarragon

1 1/4 tsp paprika

1 1/4 tsp rosemary, ground

Blenderize fine. A coffee grinder workes well. This makes 2 cups and

if you want it can be doubled easily.

use 1 tbsp seasoning for 1c liquid to make broth. When

using as a seasoining, use the amount the recipe calls for.

Another alternative is the Vegetarian Vegetable Better than Broth and mix

it according to the jar. It is delicious. Maggi's make a Veggie Boulloun

cube to make broth with that is good too.

Swanson's Vegetarian Vegetable broth is good. It come in a can or cardboard

box.
