Guest guest
I've heard similar things (that if you don't eat meat for a while your body can have trouble digesting it), but I don't know if it is true. From personal experience, the few times I " caved " after making the switch, I did get sick. But I wonder if that was more psychosomatic (sp?) As far as the theory, as I understand it the problem is more likely to be an issue regarding food poisoning. That people with regular exposure to the bacteria found in meat or a little e.coli or whatever might not get as sick off of it. Like they have a tolerance, I guess. I have no idea if it is true or not. It seems pretty silly to convince a vegetarian to eat meat once a week. If this girl is serious about becoming a vegetarian, then it won't be a problem. If she isn't serious, then I would think she won't be off meat long enough to have anything be an issue.
Guest guest
I am vegetarian for health reasons, so I have no strict moral stance against meat eating. Occasionally, just to make someone happy I will try a tiny bit of something they have prepared special. It doesn't make me sick, but it definately slows down the digestive system and I end up getting gas and constipated.
