I make this when I have guests staying.

It's rich but a lasting memory of goodness.

They always ask for it.

Hawaiian Toast with Custard Sauce

2 eggs

1/2 cup milk

1 tablespoon honey

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon vanilla

1 tablespoon butter, softened

6 slices bread

3/4 cup finely crushed corn flakes

6 pineapple slices, drained

2 oranges, peeled, sliced

Custard Sauce, recipe below

Combine first 5 ingredients in bowl, beating slightly.

Spread butter over 10x15x1-inch baking dish. Dip bread

in egg mixture; drain. Coat with crumbs. Place in

buttered dish.

Bake at 400 degrees for 5 minutes; turn. Bake for 5 to

7 minutes or until crisp. Top each slice of toast with

pineapple and orange slices and 1/2 cup Custard Sauce.

Custard Sauce;

1/3 cup honey

2 tablespoons flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 cup milk

3 eggs

1 teaspoon grated orange rind

Combine first 3 ingredients in bowl, blending well.

Stir in milk, mixing well. Cook over low heat until

smooth and thick, stirring constantly. Beat eggs and

orange rind in small bowl. Stir a small amount of hot

mixture into eggs. Add eggs to hot mixture, stirring

constantly. Cook over low heat until thickened,

stirring constantly.
