Guest guest Posted June 10, 2007 Report Share Posted June 10, 2007 Raisin Tea Scones 6 cups flour 3 tbsps. baking powder 2 cups brown sugar (light) 1 tsp. of salt 3/4 cup raisins, soaked in water 2 egg yolks mixed with milk or soy milk 1 3/4 cups margarine, room temperature 2 egg whites Mix together dry incredients, excluding raisins. Blend yolks and margarine until smooth. Add to dry mixture. Add raisins. Knead mixture and roll out dough on floured surface, to 1 cm thickness. Cut into 3 inch circles and place on lightly greased baking sheets. Brush with egg whites and sprinkle with brown sugar Bake at 400 degrees until done, about 8 to 10 minutes. Serve with fresh butter, and homemade jams. Notes: Baking time will vary with altitude as well as thickness of dough. Guest guest Posted June 10, 2007 Report Share Posted June 10, 2007 I love scones. But I would not use that much sugar. I prefer them with just a couple tablespoons. Try dried cranberries in place of raisins. But this is an interesting scone recipe, different from those I've collected and I am going to try it.....
