From Dr. Mercola today...

A little while ago, I was throwing a dinner party for some friends,

and at the last minute, I ran out of cream for making whipped cream.

So, I sent a friend down to the local store to buy a can of " squirty

whipped cream " , and she came back with a can of " whipped stuff " ! But

it wasn't actually squirty whipped cream. This is what she brought

back. [holding up can of whipped topping] " Ultra-pasteurized Whipped

Topping " .

Now, if something doesn't say, " whipped cream " after it, but

says, " whipped topping " , that's a warning sign. Let me just read you

some of the ingredients on the back:

Water (well, that's good, isn't it?)

Hydrogenated palm kernel oil

Sugar

Dextrose

Sorbitol

Sodium caseinate

Mono-and-di-glycerides

Citric acid

Mono glyceride

Hydrogenated soybean oil

Carrageenan

Polysorbate-80

Sorbitan monostearate

Artificial flavor

Salt

And in a little note down at the bottom, it's says, " Contains milk " .

Is it me, or did I not hear " milk " in any one of those ingredients?

A similar thing happened to me when I went to a breakfast restaurant

about a week ago. I don't normally go to these places, but it was

for some relatives who were visiting from out of town, and that was

what they wanted.

Anyway, I asked for cream with my coffee, and this is what I got

[holding up creamer] Looks pretty standard, doesn't it? Until you

take a closer look at it: " Non-Dairy Creamer " . When I read the

ingredients, I noticed it's got nearly the same ingredients as

whipped topping.

While pasteurized milk and cream are still not the best, I would

much rather have them than sodium caseinate, monodiglycerides,

carrageen and polysorbate-80 in my coffee.

I wanted you to be aware of the possibility of accidentally picking

up the wrong can or the wrong little container of cream when you're

out and about. Be very careful, because you don't want to be putting

this stuff in your body. It's absolute poison, and you want to stay

as far away from it as possible.

So if you have to buy pasteurized cream or you have to put it in

your coffee when you're out and about, just make sure that it really

is dairy and that it doesn't contain all this muck.
