Guest guest
Hi there! I'm glad the subject of vitamins has come up, because I am having a problem and I think taking a vitamin will help it. See, my hair is coming out. Not in clumps or anything...just enough for me to really notice it! This has just happened since I have become veggie about 5 months ago. Has anyone else who is vegetarian had this happen? Am I not getting enough protein? I bought some vitamins and I started taking them today...I hope I will see a difference in the amount of hair I lose!!! Have a great day everyone... Guest guest
Hi Rachel in 'Bama, I can really sympathize with the hair loss problem because it happened to me. Mine started about 6 months after I because a vegetarian. It didn't all fall out at once, it went slowly in the brush, but within about 6 months I had a near bald spot on the crown of my head. Fortunately, for me, it was accompanied by a scaley patch that allerted me to the potential of a food sensitivity. At first I thought it was cucumbers and I do love cucumbers, but soon realized that it was cashews. I can live without cashews. Since I quit eating them, about 18 months ago, I have had not further problems and the hair has grown back in to fill the bald spot. I am not technically allergic to them, as it is not a hystimine reaction, but I am sensitive to them and by body reacts in this way. I hope you can as easily figure out what is causing yours and easily avoid it. I don't know why, and experts will argue it, but in my experience, becoming vegetarian makes us more suspetable to attacks by sensitivities and minor allergies that we had not noticed before. Over all, sensitivities amd all, I have in better health as a vegeatrian. Katie bobdylanchick wrote: Hi there! Guest guest
There could be an allergy or a deficit causing this or a med problem. But for me , i know that lack of protein will cause me to start loosing hair. If this is the case and you eat dairy a couple ounces of cheese each day will help, if you are vegan, a couple ounces of nuts and a serving of tofu or beans should help. Do keep up with the vitamins as well. Good luck! melissa , " Rachel " <bobdylanchick wrote: > > Hi there! Guest guest
You should have your thyroid levels checked. I started losing hair and found out I had an overactive thyroid. HTH, Tracy
Guest guest
I came across this post today, the whole losing hair thing caught my attention but the " scaly patch " made me post a que. Since I delivered my first baby last year, I have had this " patch " on the back of my neck that no doc seems to know what it is. They all guess psoriasis or eczema, offer no treatment and tell me I just have to live with it. It is very embarrassing and ANNOYING! I am wondering if it could be an allergy? I am thinking the pregnancy kicked my immune system into overdrive and what may have been lurking as a mild allergy, now is a moderate to severe allergy? I am suspecting wheat. Does anyone know if I " tested " this theory, how long it would take of avoiding this in my diet for me to know if that is the culprit. Guest guest
You have to be off wheat for at least a week before you get it all out of your system and can determine if that if the culprit.
