Guest guest
This is our favorite crumbled burger recipe. The kids love it and I think that it has a texture very similar to the " real " thing. It is also cheaper for me to make than to buy the soy subs in the store. (This also contains no soy for those who avoid it) 2c Bulghur wheat (not fine ground) 1qt cannned tomatoes, with juice 1/2 med onion, cut in pieces 2-3 garlic cloves 1c walnuts (may substitute pecans or raw sunflower seeds) 2tsp salt 2Tbs molasses Place the wheat in a saucepan Place all other ingredients in blender and blend until smooth Add blended ingredients into saucepan, mix with wheat, and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Spread mix evenly on a sprayed cookie sheet and bake 250-275*F for 45-60 minutes, until it is a loose, burger-like consistency. Stir occasionally, and be careful NOT to overcook. Remove from oven while it is still moist. *Burger Delight* from The Guilt-free Gourmet cookbook. This is great for making sloppy joes and taco filling. I hope you all enjoy it as much as we do.
