Guest guest
How is the best way to eat the sweet potato that isn't really sweet compared to the yam that I always thought was a sweet potato? Guest guest
-Frank, Sweet potatoes are one of my favortite veggies and I eat them at least twice a month. I either boil or bake the sweet potato in it's skin until tender depending on the weather. I don't use my oven in the summer months. Prick the sweet potato with a sharp knife to tell when it is done(soft not hard). I mash mine, add butter and organic cane sugar,/cinnamon or cardamon. My family added marshmallows and brown sugar to the, boiled, pealed, sliced sweet potatoes and baked them , calling them " candied yams " . I suspect we will all continue to call them " potatoes " even though we are told they are not really a potato but some distant realtive..what ever that means..LOL Deanna in Colorado ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ -- In , " frankll756 " <frankll756 wrote: > > > How is the best way to eat the sweet potato that isn't really sweet > compared to the yam that I always thought was a sweet potato? > Frank > > , " genny_y2k " <genny_y2k@> > wrote: > > > > According to Wikipedia definitions, the sweet potato is only distantly > > related to the potato and even more distantly related to the yam. > > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweet_potato. > > Deanna in Colorado > > >
