Guest guest
Since we have been getting lots of new members who are experimenting with a vegetarian lifestyle, I thought they might like to read this information on what factory farmed animals are fed: http://www.ucsusa.org/food_and_environment/sustainable_food/they-eat- what.html Hope this isn't OT, Donna!!! :>) Bryan
Guest guest
Bryan, Thanks for sharing that link about what animals eat. I found it very interesting. My hubby still eats meat and I knew it could not be too healthy with the way they feed the cattle antibiotics, etc., but I didn't know the whole story. By following that link, I also found my way to www.eatingwellguide.com which is great. There are some places within 20 miles that sell organic meat and produce, etc. If he is gonna eat that stuff, then he needs to find a healthier source than the local chain store. I am very happy about finding these farms, because I was looking for a local source of organic produce anyhow. I have been totally vegetarian since Nov. and I am almost entirely vegan now. When I first started eating more veggies, I thought the whole organic thing was hype. Now that I have been reading and learning more about things for several months, I realize that it is the smart way to go and I'm working on incorporating more organics. I'm glad we have you to open our eyes on things occasionally! Thanks! Mary in MI
Guest guest
Hi Mary, I'm glad you liked it!!! I'm convinced that the key to good health is self education. The mass media isn't going to do it, the mega food production system isn't going to do it, the " healthcare " system sure isn't going to do it, and the government obviously isn't doing it. Organic food is definitely not hype. There have been scientific studies that have clearly shown how levels of pesticides rapidly diminish in the human body when people stop eating conventionally produced fruits and vegetables. It is even worse with animal products, as chemicals are biomagnified and concentrated, especially in fat. So, if anyone is going to eat meat, milk or eggs, it is definitely better to eat organic. Bryan btw, my wife and I studied at MSU and both our kids were born in MI , " Mary Gibson " <GibsonM wrote: > > Bryan, > > Thanks for sharing that link about what animals eat.
