Guest guest Posted May 7, 2007 Report Share Posted May 7, 2007 Here is my recipe for vegan cheese alternative: 1/2 c hot water 1/3 c agar agar 2 c hot cornmeal mush 1/3 c tahini 1 1/2 tsp salt 1/4 c nutritional yeast flakes 1 TBS onion powder 1/4 tsp garlic powder 2 TBS lemon juice 1) In the blender, whiz hot cornmeal mush and agar agar with water. Add remaining ingredients and thoroughly blend. 2) Add another 1/3-1/2 c water, depending on how mushy the cornmeal mush is, and blend again. 3) Pour mixture into plastic wrap-lined loaf pan. Cool well and refridgerate until firm and sliceable. Note: for cheese sauce omit agar agar and add 1/2 c more water. For American cheese add 1/3 c pimiento before blending.
