Guest guest
Hey, sorry about the delay, I was out of town.... Purple rice is available at asian stores, and it is sticky. I don't remember if there is another name for it, but purple sticky rice should describe it well. Once cooked it is almost black with just a purple tint. This is slightly different than black imperial (forbidden) rice, which is completely black and requires less water to cook (and longer time). Also, the black rice seems less sticky. If I was going to choose one for rice balls for example, I would pick the purple. For stuffings on the other hand, black is great. Also, the purple one is less expensive, at least at the ranch 99 asian stores in Los Angeles. , " wwjd " <jtwigg wrote: > > how do you get purple rice? > Judy > - > cabrita_trl > > Tuesday, April 24, 2007 4:32 PM > Re: ] What's for Dinner Tonight?? > > > > Green Gumbo (Gumbo Z'herbes) and purple rice.
