Guest guest
Yes, i am multi-parrot parent. (usually called 'parrent'...;-) Yes, if teflon gets hot or starts to overheat it emits a toxin that can kill parrots (and other birds). I don't know about other animals/humans but it has killed many pet birds. skye

Guest guest
I loved that!!! One of my parrots has a web page and is visited so much from so many people around the world...He is so hilarious.....he makes up words, puts words together (some successfully some you don't repeated but she will over and over and over as is she knows that is a 'no no'......) we call it her 'fowl language'.... (oh, i waited to have him/her sexed when he/she was 8...my boy is a girl and 2 years later i still call her 'him'... However, 'he' insists on saying 'boy' and another grey Sophie (a boy) will only say girl...2 years of trying to get them to change isn't happening - maybe because 'mommy' can't do it either!!! - we all have identity crises of some sort :-) skye
Guest guest
I was told by someone?? that people will wake up the next morning feeling like they might be coming down with the flu after being exposed but its the teflon toxin and will resolve itself. Guest guest
I think if that were the case then many folks would be sick all the time and the folks doing cooking shows on TV wouldn't even be able to function, since many of them do their cooking demonstrations in them all the time. - Donna Magee Friday, April 27, 2007 11:37 AM Re: Teflon Pans - toxic to birds I was told by someone?? that people will wake up the next morning feeling like they might be coming down with the flu after being exposed but its the teflon toxin and will resolve itself. Guest guest
After that information came out (I think they said it could be toxic to humans too if it overheats), didn't they do something to change the formula and make it safer? All of my cookware is less than 18 months old, I gave my daughter the old stuff. Cast iron just doesn't go well with lowfat cooking.
