I live in central Maine. Most thrift shops around

here are 1-5$ per book, depending on what it is.

This specific shop is in a small town, about 2,500

people. I think the shop is run by a church. They

sell all books at $.25 each, paperbacks, hardcovers,

cookbooks, craftbooks, magazines etc. Most of their

items are donated from the community, with lots of

older books from peoples attics.

I also check fleamarkets/auctions for books and other

stuff (I also collect vintage glassware, kitchenware,

jewelry, and metalcrafts) Most of the time I find

some great deals. Sometimes you can find inexpensive

books at shops the specialize in antiques or

collectables (the ones that rent booths to people,

not shops that sell items from one owner and are

often more expencive) This type of shop has a great

variety and lots of hidden treasures :)

I love shopping for old stuff, I normally check a few

shops a week, or whenever I get a chance.

I'd love to hear where everyone else finds cookbook

deals, not that I need any more :)

I find them for as low as a dollar plus shipped at

www.half.com, garage sales, library books sales and

thrift shops.

It's funny, people are always giving me their used

cookbooks, most of the women I work with don't cook

and they love when I bring something in and often they

will give me a cookbook.
