Guest guest
Reg. Worchester Sauce has anchovies in it. Agar agar is more of a gelling substance, where cornstarch imore of a thickening substance. http://www.bulkfoods.com/agar_agar.htm You can make a substance like jello with it and it doesn't have to be refrigerated like jello does. Judy - dandebmorse Tuesday, April 17, 2007 11:18 AM [sPAM] New Vegan -- a few food question Hi everyone, I have been " eatin' vegan " for almost 2 months now. I'm doing well and I love how good I feel. I have a few questions about some foods that I am curious about. I'm hoping someone on this list will be able to help explain a few things: Why is Worchester Sauce not vegan? I often see in vegan recipes references to " vegan Worchester sauce -- found in Asian food stores. " Is it possible to purchase vegan Marshmallows? A quick look at the bag at the grocery store and I learned that they contain gelatin, no surprise there. I still love honey and plan on using it. Does that make me a pseudo vegan? Aren't the bees just doing what they do naturally? Why use agar powder instead of cornstarch? Is cornstarch not vegan? Are there other foods you were surprised to learn are not vegan? What are they? Curiosity is getting the best of me. Thanks for your help! Debra
