Guest guest
Luanne - that is sooo funny! I sent the email to my Aunties and received outraged responses. (And outrage in French always has a greater impact!!!!!!) I never laughed so hard!!! The Turkish Auntie says they've always used yougurt because it tenderized the carrots. The Moroccan Auntie, where they make their carrot salad with raisins and almonds, says fresh lemon juice (and ONLY lemon juice. No lime, no orange!) with a few drops of olive oil and a teaspoon of sugarcane juice (brown sugar works fine). I'm waiting to hear from the the Persian Auntie and the Egyptian Auntie. " We are what we eat " should change to " We are what we eat WHERE we eat " !!! What a lesson in diversity. Happy Holidays to all. And, you can be sure that the southerners do NOT use anything except mayonnaise in it...and yoghurt just sounds terrible.
