Guest guest
I notice a big difference with carrots too Alyssa, and especially with cucumbers. I had stopped eating them because they just didn't taste good to me anymore but after I had my first organic one, wow! I wince when I pay for it sometimes but when I eat it, it seems worth it. One of my fav snacks is cucumber slices dipped in ranch dressing. Makes one wonder what we are doing to our food. Here's a list of the most heavily sprayed crops: Apples Cherries Grapes, imported Nectarines Peaches Pears Raspberries Strawberries Bell peppers Celery Potatoes Spinach Also, if you have farmers' markets, ask the farmers about their methods. It costs a lot more to get certified than it used to so sometimes a farmer may be using organic methods but just not certified yet. Guest guest
We use cukes all the time in our juice. And they are all waxed. I don't know if that is this time of the year of always. Any way, my juice book says to peel them. Such a waste of the skin. Guest guest
Diane, Yum. There's nothing like cucumbers with ranch dressing. LOL, all I like on the salads I make at home are cucumbers and lettuce. I'm so picky though. I have to have the peels totally off of the cucumbers, which is why I always special-order a salad when I eat out somewhere. If apples are one of the most heavily-sprayed crops, I definitely want to taste an organic one! I don't know how much better they can get than the Granny Smith apples I already buy. LOL. And I can only imagine what organic strawberries would taste like. -Alyssa On Behalf Of strayfeather1 Saturday, April 07, 2007 9:01 AM Re: organics & taste Alyssa I notice a big difference with carrots too Alyssa, and especially with cucumbers. Guest guest
I bought some organic apples tonight & couldn't wait to try one. Not as large as the their poisonous counterpart, but better & worth the extra money. Lynne strayfeather1 <otherbox2001 wrote: I think you will notice a big difference on the strawberries.
