Also, some medication can precipitate type 2 diabetes. i.e. chronic

use of prednisone and other corticosteroids and/or theophylline can

make the cells less sensitive to insulin.

when my dad went on prednisone he was almost instantly diabetic. not to say he

wasn't way overweight & really enjoyed his scotch. i remember him testing it

seemed constantly to me & it was often 200's - 400's. My poor mom wanted me to

learn to give him insulin but i was so freaked out i never learned. please pass

the tissues...
