Chickpeas In Tea

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

2 cans chickpeas -- drained

1 pinch asafoetida (optional)

2 large onions -- chopped

3 cloves garlic -- chopped

4 teaspoons tinned tomatoes

2 teaspoons finely chopped root ginger

300 milliliters tea

1 green chilli -- cut into fine rounds – up to 2 to

taste

2 teaspoons cumin

1 teaspoon garam masala

2 teaspoons coriander

1 tablespoon lemon juice

 

Sizzle asafoetida in oil for a second. Add onions, fry till brown, add

garlic till golden.

 

Add tomatoes, ginger, chickpeas and other ingredients. Bring to the boil

then simmer for 10 minutes.

 

Serve with rice.
