Guest guest
I don't know if we could remain without ploughing the soil, good question. Personally, I don't inately feel compassion towards a worm. They are neat creatures though, and I do know that if you cut a worm in half, one half will still survive and continue to grow. Maybe worms have evolved to survive in land that is ploughed. Like if we worry about the welfare of worms, then why not be concerned about the welfare of head lice, tape worms, or even bacteria for that matter? For me, I listen to my instinct. And when I see a cow, chicken, pig, fish, or an udder, I don't think, " Yum, dinner " , I feel close to these animals. But hey, if someone really doesn't think worms should be harmed in the cultivation of vegetables, that's your perogative, and good luck. Perhaps one should consider hydroponics. Good question
