I think it depends entirely on where you live... personally, I live in the UK where we have so much rain we don't know what to do with it... we do very occassionally have dry spells (I think the last serious one was about 1976), but it is rare. As much as I dislike the concept of economy and money, I do prefer it to having to farm for myself (it's not my forte!) If it came down to it, I probably know enough to scrape by, but I don't think that's true for the majority, so I think most people would be completely scuppered if money were to suddenly cease to exist...
