Guest guest
From the Spirit & Destiny magazine:- Think you're being noble by struggling into work when you're ill? Well, think again. You could be heading for an early grave, according to new research. Staff who crawl out of their sickbed to go into the office may be helping bosses, but a 10-year study of 10,000 workers has revealed that working even with a common cold can put strain on the heart. The research team from University College London compared attendance rates with the health records of those in the study. They found 40% of those who didn't take time off when ill had double the incidences of coronary disease. Professor Sir Michael Marmot, who headed the study says, 'Many people force themselves to go into work when they are not well with little knowledge of the consequences. So far from helping companies out, they could, in fact, be hastening their own demise.' Jo
