Guest guest
I have a friend who gives himself vitamin B12 shots and he swears by them. He says he feels "great" afterwards. I admit I frown on it...because I don't think it's healthy to give yourself shots...I think it's better to just take it. But I couldn't argue with him and his experience with how own body. This is why I think supplementation is so important...especially for women and vegans. Kristina In a message dated 1/10/05 5:52:08 P.M. BE A SMART ONE!!!FYI - just my recent personal experience....I was a dumb one, and have just returned to work after a month off during which time I got daily B-12 injections and got my life back together. I have only been eating a vegan diet since July 2003 and had taken the lazy approach to B-12 figuring that I didn't have to worry about it for a while and since I was overwhelmed by all the information, I did just that. That is until this past summer when my energy disappeared as did my motivation to do anything. When it started getting to be winter here, I worried about the lack of sun and sinking further in to my depression so I thought I should go see the doctor. While I was there I asked if she would test for B-12. She doubted that was the problem but did it anyway. When I went back to see another doctor for the results, I was indeed deficient in B-12 and was started on the injections for a boost and sent to a dietician to figure out how to get it in my diet with fortified foods. I asked the doctor about how that could happen to me so fast, as I also thought I had plenty to get by on for a while. She explained that some people will get low on it very fast and they have no known reason for it...So, I guess my body gets really poor B-12 mileage. The shots were amazing though. I could really tell a difference with them. I finally feel human again.jill
