Guest guest
I seem to be de-lurking.....ewwww... I just wanted to describe my journey from being a carnivore to a Vegan, complete with relapses and recoveries. In October and November I was in the hospital for three weeks. I am much better now. But a funny thing happened after I got out of the hospital. I craved meat, and lots of it. This was strange because eating meat makes me very uncomfortable in my digestive track. Thank GOD I do not like eggs and milk products make me sick. However, I gave in to the cravings and inhaled meat almost every day. Know what this taught me? It is not enough to be a Vegan simply based on health reasons. If I had also firmly believed in the correctness of not slaughtering animals, I probably would have been able to weather this storm. Let me just say that I have resolved to do better - my pantry had been cleared of meat products and I am ready to go. AND..Vegan Essentials makes a WICKED beef jerky that I can chew when I get a craving for beef. Why Have I written this? Because I think that my realization might help others in their journey toward being a Vegan. And I want to thank all of you for being so supportive toward Vegan rookies like me. I realize there have been hard feelings on this list the last few weeks, so I wanted to contribute something positive here. My feelings are from my heart. And..I am a 52 year old female schoolteacher. I teach emotionally disturbed high school students. I live in Maryland even though I am a native Californian. There are not many of us left. <re-lurking> Cynthia
