Guest guest
Good morning everyone Right. Once again it has become a sad necessity to put on the moderators hat. First of all - Ian well knows what has been said in the past about commenting on moderators decisions on list, because he has been warned several times for doing so. It is also rather noticable that Ian rarely posts, except to criticise moderator decisions, so he should not have too much trouble remembering what is said. Second. It is very simple. People on this list want to have a conversation. They do not want to have their inbox flooded with people trying to take the list over, or criticizing the moderators when they try to keep order on the list. We are the most popular vegan list on in terms of number of members, and for that reason I choose to believe that the moderation style employed by myself, Jo and Fraggle is successful and popular amongst the vast majority - unfortunately there will always be one or two individuals who like to try to stir up trouble, or are incapable of remaining polite. However, to date I have only ever had to ban one person who had not come along with the specific intention of causing trouble, and I hope that I will not be forced to up that number. My moderation style follows that of a landlord at the local pub... everyone is welcome to come in for a virtual " drink " , but if people get abusive, they will be shown the door. If people then have a go at the staff for keeping the place pleasant for the majority, they too will be shown the door. If people believe that I have been unfair, they are very welcome to e-mail me off-list, but standing in the middle of the bar and calling me names (as Ian has just done), is way out of order and will result in me taking action. Please note that I will not put anyone on moderation for contacting me privately, but I will if they attempt to stir up trouble on the list. Right, folks - let's get back to the normal chat.
