Guest guest
Sure, Jessica. Here it is: 1 cup vegan margerine (I use half olive oil, half Earth Balance marg.) 3/4 cup whole wheat flour 1/2 cup Red Star Nutritional Yeast flakes (tried with another brand and ick!) 2 cups soy milk 1/2 cup soy sauce 1-3/4 cup vegetable broth (I use Imagine No-Chicken broth) 2 Tbsp. vegan Worcestershire sauce 1/2 tsp. Kitchen Bouquet sauce (optional, but I like it) Mix soy milk, soy sauce, broth and Worcestershire sauce together; set aside. Heat margerine (and oil, if using combo) over medium heat. Stir in flour until blended and continue to heat and stir roux until mixture begins to bubble. Maintain heat only high enough to maintain bubbling for 4 minutes. (This gets rid of raw taste in the flour.) Stir in yeast flakes. Mixture will clump, but blend well, then immediately begin to add liquids a half-cup or so at a time, stirring to blend, then adding more, etc. When all the liquid has been added, continue to stir and cook until the gravy begins to bubble. All done! This is awesome over mashed potatoes or "meatloaf" or biscuits. Jessica McCoy <sweetmisery_404 wrote: Susan Spain, Can I have your yeast-gravy recipe?
