One of my favorite treats to take to potlucks

Walnut Caramel Triangles

2 c. flour

1/2 c. powdered sugar

1 c. cold margarine or butter

1 can condensed milk

1/2 c. evaporated milk or whipping cream

1 tsp. vanilla

1 c. walnuts, chopped

1/2 c. chocolate chips

1 tbsp. shortening

Mix flour, powdered sugar, and cold margarine until

crumbly. Pat into a 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350

degrees for 15 minutes or until light brown around

edges. Mix condensed milk, milk, and vanilla in heavy

saucepan. Over medium high heat, bring to a boil.

Continue cooking on medium heat until thick - about 10

to 15 minutes, stirring constantly. Stir in walnuts.

Spread mixture over baked crust. Bake for 20 minutes

more until lightly browned. Cool. Melt chocolate

chips and shortening together. Drizzle over top of

cooled bars. Cut into triangles. Cool. Store at room temperature.
