But I never ever was one of those wait people who would spit in dishes or bring caffeinated beverages to those who requested caffeine free. And I always always kissed up to the cooks and bartenders, tipped more than required too, to insure their good will if an order was screwed up or missed. what goes around, comes around, right? :-) And, I brought crackers and crayons to the kiddos. Guest guest
I love this story, Amy. What a wonderful response to a cranky customer. I wish I could think on my feet like that. I was a waitress in the mid 70s and I'm afraid I had such bad attitude. People would ask what I recommended from the menu and I would reply " I can't recommend anything. I'm vegetarian. " Then I would fling their plates down on the table when they ordered something like quail - the sight of those little corpses on their plates made me so angry. I am quite ashamed of my behaviour now and I cannot understand how I never got the sack - actually I was rather popular, possibly for the novelty factor, who knows. Guest guest
I love the bay leaf response! I'm definitely using that one next time a wayward bay leaf or clove turns up in someone's plate.
