Guest guest
" Lady's Finger " seems to be an English, as in empire, construction. Perhaps we should ask Lizzie Collingham. " Okra " is a corruption of an Igbo [Nigerian aboriginal] word, the original of which my mail program cannot emulate. > strayfeather1 > > Monday, February 05, 2007 10:21 PM > Re: Okra - Does anyone knows why this veggie is called " lady-fingers " - so curio > > > Okra is called Lady's Fingers in Sri Lanka too but I don't know why. > Sure is tasty curried; that's the only way I like it > Peace, > Diane > >
Guest guest
I haven't cooked it for myself (I should learn how) I like to order Bhindi Masala when we eat out & also like a brand of ready-to-eat curries called " MTR " . They are $1.99 at my favorite Indian store and almost $4 at the regular market lol.
