Guest guest
I have given this recipe to many people and they have thought it was great. One even eats it for breakfast. OATMEAL WHEATGERM PATTIES 1 and ½ cup uncooked 1 minute oatmeal ¼ cup dry lentils cooked in enough water to cover till soft 1 cup wheat germ 1 pkg. Dry yeast dissolved in ¼ c. warm water 4 tsp. soy sauce 1 cup onion chopped 2 eggs beaten* 4 Tablespoons chopped nuts, any kind 1-12oz. can evaporated milk 1 tsp. poultry seasoning 2 garlic cloves crushed ¼ tsp. red pepper flakes 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. liquid smoke Mix everything together in large bowl. Preheat in a nonstick frying pan or electric fry pan that you pour a little oil in and rub it around with a paper towel. Can let it set for 15 for some of the liquid to absorb in the oatmeal. I used a 1/3 cup measure with a handle to scoop the mixture in, rounded a little in the measure. Because the mixture is a little soft I bought 2 poached egg rings and set them in the pan and put mixture in ring, flattened with the bottom of the measure. Let set a few seconds, fill the other ring that you set in the pan, remove the first ring and continue to cook till patties are well browned. These are wonderful in a bun or serve with a sauce of your choice. The egg ring has about a 3 and ½ in. diameter. *You can leave out the eggs but remember without eggs don't cook in a sauce, they will fall apart. I have not been happy with replacer's for eggs.
