Guest guest
Sorry it has taken me a while to answer. One: I am NOT a doctor or vet. I am a seriously ill patient and have owned/run a NO kill shelter for over 20 years and have taken care of a LOT of sick dumped animals with vet's guidance. OK. Probiotic means for life. They are generally active enzymes or bacteria that the gut needs to be healthy. You can find hundreds of brands in capsules (BUT 99.99999999% of the capsules are gelatin and gelatin is not vegan or vegetarian.) I have used Schiff, milk free probiotic acidophilus tablets on me and the animals. (Acidophilus is also found in live culture yogurt but this has a LOT more.) The animals who get them here are the ones with gut problems or who are not well. (Chronic diarrhea, underweight, sick) Anyone with horses will immediately recognize the smell of the tablet. Sort of vet and natural herb/oats/hay/stuff smell. Not a bad smell, like my huge B-100 capsules I have to take. (BLECH) Along with daily injections of B12 comples. AAAAAAAAAnd calcium, and and and and and and. Even if you are well, I'd personally keep a bottle of these around for when the 24 hour run to the bathroom every other minute flu hits. The bottle says take one a day but I take 3 a day. Sick cats get one, cut into quarters, 4 times a day. Sick dogs (these are 60 to 100 pound dogs) get one three times a day. Found a place online where they are cheaper than where I buy these locally. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000K7RAKG/nextag-hpc-20/ref=nosim (A1 Herbal) hope this helps, Jeanne in GA Get your own web address.
