Another use for gomasio

I love gomasio - I have done ever since I first tried it as a young

hippie way back when. In those days I liked simple food - a bowl of

brown rice, steamed veggies, a spot of tamari, a dollop of tahini and

masses of gomasio. Even thinking about it now I can remember the joy of

discovering that food could taste so wonderful and be a pleasure,

rather than the ordeal it was when I was a child being forced to eat

meat.

Inspired by the crockpot breakfast that people were talking about, I

have been making myself crockpot oatmeal using pinhead (steel cut) oats

and barley flakes. Here in Scotland we tend to put salt on our porridge

rather than sugar. I'm not a fan of anything too salty but I tried a

sprinkling of gomasio (sesame salt) instead and it was wonderful.

Just wanted to share that with you all.

Christie in Edinburgh (brown rice and steamed veggies are now on the

agenda for tonight's dinner)
