Guest guest
Liz, We love the Worthington and Loma Linda products too. They are a sister company of Monrning Star Farms and have a wonderful canned and frozen line of products. http://www.kelloggs.com/brand/worthington/ Click on canned and frozen to see their whole line. We love them all. You can find them a great line of their products at any Adventist book and nutrition center www.adventistbookcenter.com Click on store locator to find the closest location to you. They don't list any food products on their website, but if you call them or go in their store, you will be amazed at the selection. They will take an order over the phone and mail it to you too. They have the " Chicken and Beef' like seasonings, nutritional yeast flakes, TVP, Better than Milk Products and tons more too. We love the frozen section. You can also buy in cases and save a bit of money. This is what we do. Also www.amazon.com carries the canned products and has free shipping on orders of $25 combined Amazon order. They have wonderful prices too. Find the name of a product on the http://www.kelloggs.com/brand/worthington/ website and then type it into the search bar on amazon. It is easier to find more products they carry this way, I have found. There are some health food stores also that carry them. You could look in your phone book and call a Seventh Day Adventist church in your area and they could direct you to the best place to buy them. Seventh Day Adventist advocate a vegetarian healthy lifestyle, though not all members embrace it, most do. I've also found them in the Health Food Section at large grocery stores and some super Wal-marts. I think you would also love the frozen meals that Amy's Kitchen carries. We find those in the freezer section at Super Targets. They are very good. http://www.amyskitchen.com/ They also carry some of their canned products on the soup or health food isle. There are also a lot of sites on-line that carry them. Just do a search. You've got tons of selections out there, but one of the reasons we love the Worthington/Loma Linda/ Morning Star Farms products is that you can use them in your favorite recipes and while they are similar to meat, they will look and taste a little different. I like this because if it looked to much like meat, it would gross me out. LOL I've always been a vegetarian. Another good thing about meat substitutes is that they are basically already cooked, just need browning or baking or adding into a casserole, or stir fry. etc.... Look in the recipe files here, under Meat substitutes and then the folders called " not chicken " and " not cow " and you'll find some recipes using these products. Enjoy, Judy - Elizabeth Jackson Tuesday, January 30, 2007 10:35 AM question about " meat " It sounds to me like most of you simply take your fave recipe and omit the meat or have found a meat subsitute to use. This is what I'm trying to do just to get started, since frankly, I'm scared of Tofu. I don't know why, other than the fact that I've never had it and never cooked with it before. I'm reading a lot of good things here about the MorningStar Farms " meat " products and that really helps my confidence in going vegetarian. So are there other " meat " products out there that would fool my carnivore family when they visit? My family has an old Italian meat sauce recipe we use every holiday for the special dinner, however it includes about 6 pounds of hot sausage and stew meat, what are some good substitutions for those? TIA, Liz ________
