I have a had Quizno's only a couple of times however the first time I had it

was a grilled veggie sandwich and it had pieces of meet in it. When I said

something to them about it I was told that it didn't.

My office brought in Quizno's for a meeting and although they had a cold

veggie sandwich for me it was not good.

I will stick with Subway for a fast food veggie sandwich.

Hi Erin,

Good point, for strict vegans (I am not THAT strict... it isn't like

bread is going to be loaded with lard or something!).

Anyway, someone else had that same question, and it turns out that most

of the Quizno's bread is vegan:

It's not the healthiest option, but I like the Quizno's " grilled cheese " sub

with tomatoes. I

always feel like I end up with a lettuce sandwich if I try Subway, maybe the one

we go to is

not well stocked with veggies?

Thanks for the link. That's good news. I've never actually

tried Quiznos, but this could come in handy should some of

the guys decide to dine there.

Turns out many (most?) of the Subway breads are vegan too:

(That's a long link, if some of it falls off copy and paste

the missing piece onto the end in your browser's address bar.)

Subways always had the selection of olives, onions, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes,

green peppers, hot pepper slices, cucumbers, 2 kinds of cheese. There may be

more than I am remembering at the moment. My girls love Subways.

Some of them have spinach as well, but you have to hunt for it as it's usually

in a covered bin. And back in California, many subways had avocados, too.

I love Subway, except their wheat rolls are not 100% whole wheat.

Otherwise....gimme the Veggie works.

That's disappointing. What's the logic in that?

Ben, I've heard labeling packaged breads, rolls, etc., as " wheat breads "

is a marketing trick that's getting popular. A lot of people hear or

read " wheat " and think whole wheat, especially if you're hurrying and

trying to grab a quick lunch or get out off the grocery store, not

realizing that the main ingredient is white wheat flour. Seems to me

that it would be just as easy to use whole wheat in whatever they're

selling, but what do I know? ;-)

Peace,

Maureen

  • 2 weeks later...

I like the wraps so much better than the bread. They don't tear, and

they don't get in the way of the stuff inside. It looks like they

might be vegan too. Are they?

http://subway.com/subwayroot/MenuNutrition/Nutrition/frmUSIngredients.a

spx

CARB-CONSCIOUS WRAP: Water, wheat gluten, corn starch, oat fiber, soy

oil, isolated soy protein, soy flour, salt, sesame flour, calcium

sulfate, contains 2% or less of: unbleached wheat flour, acacia gum,

wheat bran, sodium aluminum phosphate, sodium bicarbonate, calcium

propionate (a preservative), guar gum, fumaric acid, potassium

sorbate, monoglycerides, sucralose, l. cysteine, enzyme. Contains soy

and wheat.

Also one of the first few ingredients on the wheat bread is high

fructose corn syrup and that stuff is really bad for us.
