Guest guest
Brrrrr that is cold. So VERY sad all those cattle have died. I heard about it on the news. I was surprised they didn't have enclosed shelter, in that cold climate for them. I'm so happy for you, that you were able to keep your livestock alive and warm enough not to freeze to death. I'm sure that is quite an undertaking. We have a store in town that is going out of business and they hired this company to help them do the close out. The man they sent is from the Denver area. Today was the last day for the store. He's been here 6 weeks. I recommended he visit Destin Beach, Fl, which isn't to far from here. LOL when I saw him yesterday, he told me that he has decided to go down there for a mini-vacation, because there is so much snow on the route he has to drive back to Colorado. It was 70 here today and sunny. I think he will be delighted he made the choice to enjoy this breathtakingly beautiful beach while he was in the area and not go back and face all that snow so soon. He was teasing all the folks back in Denver, with our warm winter temps, since he has been here. He said that it has been so dry for many years though, that all this snow will bring tons of needed moisture to your area. It really has been an unusally mild winter even for us. I'm still wearing shorts most days, so far and usually I'm in pants for about 3 months this time of the year. Hope you warm up there soon.. During this rough weather I decided to leave the ranch in western Co. and return to the city. 3 ft. of snow with drifts way higher than that and 30 below zero was too much for me. Estimates are that over 30,000 head of cattle have died and who knows how many more livestock froze or starved. We didn't lose a single animal on the ranch. I am so disappointed in the ranchers and cattle feed lot operators in that area.
