I also remembered after you wrote this that I made some Chinese 5 spice this summer. I am pretty sure I have star anise in it so maybe I will use that. I'll have ot thinkabout it. I saw a recipe for maraschino cherries that are without chemicals. I have to tweak it a little bit. I will send it to the group when I am done. I need maraschino cherries for another recipe. I have tried substitutes for years but it is notnearly as tasty (or deadly) as maraschino cherries. I will also send that when I finish.
