Guest guest
I make that, mock guacamole with green peas, it's awesome, low fat and a great sub if you don't have avocados on hand. Guest guest
I too have made a pea mockamole for one of the " fight nights " I host. The guys liked it well enough. It didn't taste like guacomle per se, but had a good flavor and made a nice dip. It was SWEET. -Erin www.zenpawn.com/vegblog , Donnalilacflower <thelilacflower wrote: > > I make that, mock guacamole with green peas, it's > awesome, low fat and a great sub if you don't have > avocados on hand. > Donna
Guest guest
If any of you own the Passionate Vegetarian cookbook, there is a recipe for mockamole in there. Basically, you just subbed peas for about half the avocado in the recipe. ---Food process and mix with mashed avocado, lime juice, cilantro, tomato, onions, etc... The taste difference is negligible and the fat content is lowered. , " Erin " <truepatriot wrote: > > I too have made a pea mockamole for one of the > " fight nights " I host. Guest guest
I hate ta ask but why do we need mock guacamole when it is vegetarian? Are we avoiding avocados because of the fat content? Steph
Guest guest
No doubt, with some actual avocado in there, the taste would be much the same, as you say. In the case of the dip I had made for that particular party, however, it was all about the peas. It had a sweet flavor and was enjoyed, but it certainly wasn't mistaken for the fattening stuff. By the way, I'm not especially concerned about the fat of avos (I have two ripening as I type), but I do try to keep it to 1/3-1/2 of one at a sitting. As a fight party is seldom amenable to rationing, I try to make sure everything on which we are gorging is healthy even in quantity. -Erin www.zenpawn.com/vegblog , " Jody " <alladinjw wrote: > > If any of you own the Passionate Vegetarian cookbook, there is a > recipe for mockamole in there. > > Basically, you just subbed peas for about half the avocado in the > recipe. ---Food process and mix with mashed avocado, lime juice, > cilantro, tomato, onions, etc... > > The taste difference is negligible and the fat content is lowered. > > , " Erin " <truepatriot@> wrote: > > > > I too have made a pea mockamole for one of the > > " fight nights " I host.
