Guest guest
My local council likes to consider itself at the cutting edge of political correctness. At a recent event for voluntary sector agencies, the buffet lunch which they provided was entirely vegetarian. These are changed days indeed from the time (not so long ago) when you would be struggling to find anything more appetising than a couple of miserable egg and cress sandwiches sharing a plate with their ham counterparts. Does this mean that there are now so many vegetarians in Britain (or Scotland) that they need to take us into account, or that the majority of voluntary sector workers are now vegetarian, or have they just realised that it is actually much cheaper to cater for vegetarian food? Either way it is a triumph for vegetarianism. Christie in Edinburgh
