Nope! not in the cookie, any way.... " A synthetic form of the

compound is used in foods and beverages "

lactic acid

n.

A syrupy, water-soluble liquid, C3H6O3, produced in muscles as a

result of anaerobic glucose metabolism, and present in sour milk,

molasses, various fruits, and wines. A synthetic form of the

compound is used in foods and beverages as a flavoring and

preservative, in dyeing and textile printing, and in pharmaceuticals.

More........

Lactic acid is produced by fermentation of sugar. It is a pale

yellow, clear liquid with a specific odour.

and another.......[with extra info as well]

If it's lactate or lactic acid, it's not from dairy (exception -

sterol lactate due to the stearic acid). " Lac " ingredients are

usually produced by a fermentation process using cornstarch or

beet sugar. Lactose is always from dairy. Most ingredients

made with with calcium are vegan (i.e. calcium carbonate,

calcium phosphate, calcium sulfate). The exceptions are

calcium caseinate and calcium stearate. Drink up the calcium

fortified o.j. - it's vegan!

What about it yogurt?

If it is *added* to food, it is synthetic...........but it naturally occurs in

dairy [and other foods listed in that definition].

If you mean soy yogurt, and you saw it listed as an ingredient, I

would think, given the sources I shared, that you are still going

vegan. :~)

I didn't get it because I was worried it was dairy. I think I'll try it. Thanks

for all of the help. :-)
