there is no easy answerglycerin is sometimes a by-product of the soap and candle industry, it can come from tallow, etcglycerine can be vegetable, animal, or come from petroleum...same with lactic acid..lactic acid is often a byproduct of bacterial cultures...but it can come from animal er vegetable sources as well....

ugh! i know with SOME products it will say lactic acid (vegetable source) but man. its tough cause you`ll find somehting that looks hella yummy and then you read the ingredients and its all vegan except lactic acid! arrgh!
