Guest guest
Fraggle, Reply from the vegan Society as follows( looks as though you have imbibed too much of that alcyhol after all!): Hi Peter,Glad to hear that you have been telling everyone about the online Animal Free Shopper. Thanks for the feedback, which is always appreciated, but I think there might have been a mix-up. The Animal Free Shopper doesn’t list breweries under US or UK, and the brands mentioned in the email (Ranier, Dempsey, Golden Pacific, Nevada City) are not listed in the Animal Free Shopper. I do agree, however, that it is far from complete, so please do urge all of your friends to pass on any information that they receive from breweries and other companies. At the moment, it only lists brands that are available in the UK, so your American friends will find it frustratingly incomplete. I would advise them to urge one of the American vegan groups to create something similar for products available in the US.Best wishes,Catriona TomsinfoThe Vegan Society Donald Watson House 7 Battle Road St. Leonards on Sea East Sussex TN37 7AA UK Tel: 0845 45 88244 Fax: 01424 717064 www.vegansociety.com The Vegan Society provides information and advice to those who are interested in the vegan ethic and wish to become vegan. EBbrewpunx wrote: Earlier this year, the Bush administration took an extraordinary step to defend the interests of U.S. sugar producers and the packaged-food industry, both of which count top executives among the president's biggest fundraisers. Chris Mooney reports that in January the Department of Health and Human Services sent a letter to the World Health Organization objecting to the scientific findings underlying WHO's effort to issue anti-obesity guidelines -- most notably a dietary recommendation to limit consumption of sugar. The industry associations say the WHO's global strategy fails to recognize that personal lifestyle choices are as much a cause of obesity as diet. Not coincidentally, the HHS letter to WHO raises exactly those objections. With obesity closing in on tobacco as the nation's leading cause of preventable death, sugar producers and the packaged-food industry have a big economic stake and liability risk in the outcome of this debate. But with a number of Bush "Rangers" and "Pioneers" among their executives, the groups are clearly well positioned to make their views known to the president and his top advisers.http://ga3.org/ct/h7apfUK1MjGy/ To send an email to - Friends.
