the use of *terrorism* to denote animal rights activists and folks who speak out about the environment is generally a new thing

in the past, it came up once er twice, someone would lable them terrorist, but, it was more of a single accusation

since 9/11, the beat has been continous and non-stop..they've labeled everyone from Greenpeace to the Wildlife Defense Fund as terrorist
