My daughter is 3 years old. Tomorrow, her daycare will take a field

trip to visit the animals at the Cole Bros. Circus. They even gave

us a free child's ticket to take her to the show tomorrow evening.

I was never a fan of the circus, but never gave it much thought

beyond that. Yesterday, when I found out about the field trip, I did

a little research and reaffirmed, exponentially, my stance.

So now what do I do? My wife doesn't want to let her go. I'm quite

busy at work these days, so that sounds like an easy enough answer.

But I'm inclined to let her go, but to go along and explain to her

some of the ways that the animals are mistreated.

I don't necessarily want to force my views on other kids, but I also

don't want Sofia (that's my daughter--coolest little girl you're

ever likely to meet) to be force-fed misperceptions about animals

and how they should be treated.

So my questions are:

-Should I go? (I'm going, but I'm interested in opinions.)

-How do I describe the injustices without being too graphic?

-How far should I go? (I'm thinking about making Sofia and myself

matching anti-circus t-shirts and challenging our guides to answer

questions about the treatment of the animals.)

The event is tomorrow, May 6, in the morning. I'll be reading your

responses into the night as I prepare.

Thank you,

Gig

hello Gig,

I would like to comment on your circus adventure

Boycott boycott boycott

is been the way I always have felt about circus

but in saying that I was about 5-6 the one and only time I went

I remember it so clear and the whips and the smell

I really didn't like it, it felt wrong to me even at that age

do go she will need to see this once in her life

I would be graphic if you must don't hold back let her figure it out the info she receives (no kit gloves)

shirts are a great idea

I have a sticker on my car "Stop Slavery Boycott the circus"

all the best

Craig
