Guest guest
Let me first state a disclaimer here: THIS IS MY OPINION ONLY Okay. Several times on the board I have heard that there is no "truth"...that the truth is different for each person. I don't believe that...at least not for everything. Yes there is an example I can think of that would illustrate this. One can say for one person the winter season is exhilarating and for another person winter is depressing. In a case such as that.. I would definitely agree that the Winter season holds different "truths" for each person. However, sometimes there is no way that two truths can exist at the same time. Let me pick something controversial...the concept of Hell vs. the concept of reincarnation. Both are very different...or I guess you can say both can happen...one can go to Hell and then be reincarnated. But really, in the way people hold these ideas...Hell being a place you stay in x amount of time and the concept of reincarnation...both cannot be true. And I don't believe that it depends on the beliefs of each person. Somehow the nature of death and birth applies to all of us regardless of our beliefs...so I am willing to bet that whatever happens after death applies to all of us regardless of our beliefs. There are many beliefs in this arena... I cannot believe that all of them are "true" because it would just be impossible that all of them happen...that's not being intellectually honest. I am guessing that we do this because we like to keep things "open" and it's hard to believe in any concrete end...especially if we don't like it. I also think we do this because many feel they are telling someone that they are "wrong" if they have different beliefs. But I don' t think this is the mature and honest way to look at things...because we have to deal with life as it is...not the way we "hope" it to be. We can wish and hope that things are a certain way...but that will not change the reality of life or the situation at hand. I am not argueing for either reincarnation or Hell - that was just an example - just arguing against the notion that everything is relative. Some things can clearly be relative but many things in life clearly are not....my opinion, thank you.
