Guest guest
Thats an often touted idea, but I don't think it holds water. Fish, lamb and chicken are just three examples. One case where that is true is for Rock/Hake(?) - once called Rock Salmon - as the industry thinks that no one would buy Dogfish, but I think the different names bear more relation to the way that the language has developed than any real method of obscuring things. Dave ----- Original Message from Anna Blaine ----- I've always been bothered about how in most cases, we call an animal by a different name when we eat it. Steak or beef instead of cow, poultry instead of hen, etc. It seems another way to distance ourself from the death that occurs to feed the general populace.
