Guest guest
Terriffic Soup Mixes! I hesitated eliminating dairy from my diet for some time due to lack of another palatable protein source but have since discovered " Hurst's HamBeen's " brand soup mixes. They are split pea or bean soups,VERY reasonably priced and fantastic! They include flavoring packets that taste like ham, or beef but contain no meat. I add carrots and celery to their recipes but other than that the recipes on the bag work fine (their recipes call for meat, but I don't add it, just the flavoring packet) They are in the dried bean section of most supermarkets. They have black bean, 15 bean cajun, 15 bean " beef " flavor, 15 bean " ham " flavor, etc. Beans are a great source of protein combined with whole wheat bread on the side to balance the amino acids...natural peanut butter on the bread further adds to the protein value of the meal. Anyway, this works well for me because I can cook these soups ahead in double batches and freeze them in individual containers for quick meals later. And, no more dairy antibiotic milk moustaches. Their website address is http://www.hurstbeans.com/ ; it has recipes and soon, online ordering of their products! Terriffic Soup Mixes!
